Produced by John Cale at The Hit Factory, The Stooges channels Detroit grit into something minimal but highly charged, with Iggy Pop, Dave Alexander, Ron Asheton and Scott Asheton turning repetition, distortion and brute rhythmic force into a new kind of rock language. Tracks such as "Ann", "Real Cool Time" and the extended "We Will Fall" show the record was never just blunt-force impact; there is mood, space and unease running through it as well.
